    • Leya, the castle was first mention at the beginning of the 14th century. It has been built as what you would call in today’s language “a border control unit”, thus because of the position, on the border between Transylvania and Wallachia. Vlad Tepes – as a a King of Wallachia – was given the job to supervise the castle. Most sure, he did travel and stayed in the castle..but would be a mistake to consider “his castle”. One – which definitely related to him, but not the one in Bram Stoker’s story – is the Poenari Citadel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poenari_Castle).
